Frequently Asked Questions
What is Risk Response?
Risk Response is practical support when something has happened or a significant health and safety concern needs to be addressed. We can help you understand what has happened, assess the risks, identify appropriate actions and put effective controls in place.
Can you help us after a workplace accident or incident?
Yes. We can provide independent support following an incident and help you understand what happened, what needs to happen next and where improvements may be required. Depending on the circumstances, this may include reviewing existing controls, investigating the incident and identifying actions to reduce the likelihood of recurrence.
Can you help if we receive contact from the HSE or another regulator?
We can provide competent H&S advice and support when you are dealing with regulatory scrutiny or concerns about your arrangements. If you receive correspondence from a regulator, contact us as soon as possible so we can understand the situation and discuss how we can support you.
What should we do immediately after a serious incident?
Your immediate priority should always be protecting people from further harm and dealing with any emergency requirements. Once the immediate situation is under control, appropriate reporting, investigation and follow-up may be required. If you are unsure what to do next, seek competent H&S advice promptly.
Can you help us investigate an incident?
Yes. We can provide independent support to help establish what happened, identify underlying causes and determine what corrective actions may be needed. The purpose of an effective investigation should be to learn and prevent recurrence, rather than simply looking for someone to blame.
Can you help us improve our controls after an incident?
Yes. An incident can highlight weaknesses in existing arrangements or reveal where controls are not working as intended. We can help you review the situation, identify practical improvements and support you in implementing appropriate corrective actions.
Do you only provide Risk Response support after an accident?
No. You do not need to wait for an accident to happen. We can also support businesses when a significant risk has been identified, following a near miss, during organisational change or whenever you need additional competent H&S input to respond to a developing situation.
